Ricky got second in the ROY race, without the help of homers.
As expected, Kyrie Irving won the Rookie of the Year award. The only competition he faced was James Harden’s Sixth Man of the Year, a tight race for “which award will be more of a blow out?” Irving was fantastic all season, averaging 21.8 points and 6.4 assists per 36 minutes, but he was also clutch when the Cavaliers were in a tight game. In the last five minutes of a game with a margin of five points or less, Irving shot 54% from the field, and a stunning 67% from three point range. Congrats to Kyrie for a well-deserved honor.
Ricky Rubio finished second in the voting, despite missing every game after March 9 with an ACL tear. Here’s a chart, from ESPN.com, with the totals.
Kyrie Irving, CleRussell Westbrook Looked Pretty Classy At the Post Game Press Conference
Seriously, Him, Durant, and Harden are probably my favorite players in the NBA. Didn’t even grow up a Thunder fan. These guys can strait up win games and the gear they rock is out of this world. Probably the best shirt I’ve ever seen. Someone tell me where I can buy this thing for my next fishing trip. Thunder in 6 games over the Heat in the NBA Finals.

DENALI NATIONAL PARK and PRESERVE, Alaska — National Park officials say a climber has died of injuries after falling during a climb of Alaska’s Mount McKinley.
A park release Saturday says the climber fell about 1,100-feet Friday, while following the West Buttress route to the summit. Witnesses say the climber fell at about 16,200-feet. He was trying to recover a backpack that had started to slide downhill.
A park service mountaineering patrol was behind the climber’s three-person team and called for a helicopter. The victim’s body was flown to Talkeetna, Alaska, after rangers confirmed that the climber had died of injuries.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of family members overseas.
Mount McKinley is North America’s highest mountain.
Friday’s fatal fall is the first serious incident on McKinley during the 2012 mountaineering season.

szólj hozzá: Chelsea Bayern HIGH + PENS
Five years ago in Munich, John Terry was a picture of abject misery, slipping on the slick Luzhniki Stadium turf and missing his penalty as Utd held off Chelsea in a heartbreaking loss.
Today, we saw Chelsea do the impossible as they held Bayern at the Allianz Arena, their home stadium, through full time and extra time for 120+ minutes through so many near death experiences. The 82nd minute goal by Thomas Mueller appeared to have spelled doom but Didier Drogba’s powerful header five minutes later off Chelsea’s first corner restored parity sending the visiting fans who had gone silent into a screaming celebratory frenzy.
Drogba now turned villain in extra time unforgivably clipping Franck Ribery on the heel bringing him down in the box. There was no doubt it was a penalty as the Ivoirian looked agonized. Arjen Robben who More >

This past Monday, Caroline Wozniacki dipped to No. 8 in the WTA rankings, her lowest slot since early July of 2009. After back-to-back seasons of 63 and 62 wins, Wozniacki is a fairly pedestrian 20-9 so far in 2012 without a single tournament championship. Here’s a quick look at the rise and fall of three former No. 1′s with similar circumstances to Wozniacki.

Mac’s Power (2.30) has gone over a year without victory but gets his ideal conditions today and is fancied to strike again at Newbury. He was second in the corresponding contest 12 months ago, but has the benefit of a run under his belt this time, not to mention the fact that James Fanshawe’s yard is also in decent form.
Having failed to win from eight starts in races of nine or fewer, it is clear Mac’s Power is happier in larger fields and his chances are much better here than the five-runner contest in which he disappointed on his reappearance. He is feasibly handicapped too and his draw should allow Kieren Fallon to track the pace and find the cover that the horse needs.
